Konica Minolta MagiColor 4695MF Review

The printing needs of a business demands that they have a high capacity, high quality printer. Without a printer that can handle the huge volume, a business could lose time and money. Avoiding those problems is simple if time is taken to find the best printer with the right features at a reasonable price. One of the better choices on the market is the Konica Minolta MagiColor 4695MF. This printer was supposed to be made with the heavy volume user in mind. But there are some features that really don’t make sense. The Konica Minolta MagiColor 4695 is a large machine but it only has a 250 sheet capacity. There is also a multipurpose slot for an additional 100 sheets.

For a heavy duty machine, the MagiColor 4695MF is quite an achievement. It is made to handle a volume up to 120,000 sheets a month. That is a large volume for a printer with only a starting paper capacity of 250 sheets. Most heavy volume users will go through 250 sheets very quickly. Fortunately, there is an optional tray that holds 550 sheets of paper. The heaviest users would be wise to get the larger paper tray.

Konica Minolta knows that business users don’t want to waste time learning to operate their new printer. That is why they included a complete suite of software to handle all of a user’s printing needs. Connectivity is handled by the USB and Ethernet and Parallel ports. There is an additional USB port to allow the direct printing of JPEG, TIFF, PDF and XLS files. The only thing missing is Wi-Fi connectivity.

Operation is handled via the LCD control panel. Status information is prominently displayed and there are 5 selection buttons to aid in operating the unit. Konica Minolta offers high volume toner cartridges for those that need them. And the MagiColor 4695MF’s toner cartridges are simple to change when needed. Considering how quickly high volume users use toner, making it easy to change cartridges was a smart move by Konica Minolta.

There are really no disadvantages to owning this unit. Konica Minolta made an excellent machine for their high volume printing customers. In future models, Wi-Fi would be appreciated. Wi-Fi has become ubiquitous and it makes adding a machine to a network extremely easy. And an initial higher paper capacity also would be a plus. Users shouldn’t have to purchase an additional paper tray to handle their printing needs.
