The Brother Intellifax 4100E’s existence is due to the shortcomings of its predecessor, the Brother Intellifax 4100. The Brother Intellifax 4100 had a 14.4 kbps modem that just couldn’t compete with similar devices. As sales lagged, Brother decided to upgrade the Intellifax 4100 and call it the Intellifax 4100E. Buyers will immediately notice the new, faster 33.6 Kbps modem. This faster modem will make this device more competitive with the other fax machines in its class. The better modem will definitely make this a better device for the small business owner or home user.
The Brother Intellifax 4100E is now able to transmit pages in 2 to 2 seconds. This speed is made possible by the 33.6 Kbps Super G3 modem. The Intellifax 4100’s 14.4 Kbps modem was only able to transmit pages in 6 seconds. In the grand scheme of things, 3 to 4 seconds is an eternity in the high speed world that we live in. If a user is faxing out a large number of pages to a large number of locations, 3 to 4 second will make all of the difference.
The Brother Intellifax 4100E features 8 MBs of RAM memory which will store up to 500 pages of documents. This o board memory can make all of the difference when you are dealing with a large volume of faxes. By using this fax memory, paper jams and power outages won’t affect any incoming material. If the device is interrupted, the documents will be saved into memory. When things can resume, the device will continue as if nothing ever happened. The 8 MBS of RAM will also store your outgoing documents as well. Faxes without digital capability weren’t able to accomplish this.
The Brother Intellifax 4100E also saves space and time by featuring a corded handset. The corded handset may seem outdated by many people but it serves an important purpose. Instead of requiring a fax machine and a telephone, a small office can have both in one device.
The biggest problem with the Brother Intellifax 4100E is that fax machines are rarely used today. If you are looking for a solid fax machine, this is a high quality device. But its capabilities are very limited. It doesn’t scan or print. In a world where there are multifunctional devices that can print, scan, copy and fax, the Brother Intellifax 4100E might be too outdated for most people.
