The Brother HL-2270DW: A Perfect Family Printer!

In my household, the diversity between ages is substantial. From being a 52-year-old man married to a beautiful 48-year-old woman and having kids who age are 9, 15, and 23, I see that everyone needs something different. When it comes to the household printer, the amount of pages needing being printed is different between all of us. My 9 year old prints very seldom, whereas my 23 year old is printing 20+ pages daily for University class notes. Finding the right printer for this family has been a bit of a challenge but I finally found one at Staples.ca that fits all our needs.

In this article, I will discuss my purchase of the Brother HL-2270DW Mono Laser Printer, an ideal printer for both the home and a small business environment.

The main reason why we decided to purchase this printer was the efficient usage of toner. When it comes to printing, my family tends to be heavy users. My college student son will print over a 100 pages a week; this with the rest of it and easily us can be around 200 pages. A normal printer would run out of ink quickly and we would have to repurchase expensive ink cartridges multiple times a year. The Brother HL-2270DW is a laser printer and therefor uses toner. The toner should last a year at the least if not two. The Brother HL-2270DW also prints faster with the laserjet being able to spit out up to 27 pages in a minute.

Our family has multiple desktop and laptop computers. The issue with many printers is that we would have to pick them up and move them between them desktop computers to print or bring our laptops over and connect them. Either case can be very tedious to do. The Brother HL-2270DW Mono Laser Printer uses wireless printing. The computers will connect wirelessly through our router to the printer and we can leave the printer in a central location. We could start printing from any room in the house and then go pick up the prints after. This is just much more convenient than lugging a printer between a three floor home.

Finally, the price point was very good. At our local Staples department store, we found the printer to be selling for under 80 dollars. This was not very expensive compared to the cheaper priced inkjets as it would be more expensive to refill inkjets throughout the year.

If you are in the market for a new printer, that does not have to be physically connected to your computer, will print a lot of pages with little ink usage, and at a price point that is fair then consider the Brothers HL-2270DW Mono Laser Printer! You will not regret it.
