Brig NiagraI entered the PC game pretty late in life: about 1996 or so when I was given an old 286 with 1 MB RAM and monochrome monitor. I was immediately hooked! I got a copy of "DOS for Dummies" from the library and read it voraciously. Imagine my excitement upon getting an IBM PS/2 386 with 8MB next! I was in Windows 3.1 glory now!
After a brief fling with OS/2 Warp it was time to get current: in late '97, I purchased a brand new Pentium 200MMX with 64MB of RAM and a whopping 3.4GB hard drive. Now, I was introduced to Windows 95. OSR2, to be exact. Inquisitive person that I am, I promptly messed something up that required me to pay a local shop good money to reinstall Windows. I vowed to be more careful, but I wanted to know how to fix such things myself. Thus began my journey into the strange, yet wonderful world of the PC.
Next was an upgrade to Windows 98, then 98SE.

About this time, I was invited by MS to be a beta-tester for Windows Me. This was my first taste of testing software and I loved it! Next up was Windows XP and that was pretty exciting to watch it's development and have a small part in it. I have also tested products for PowerQuest, Executive Software (now Diskeeper), Symantec, and Raxco (PerfectDisk).
XP Service Pack 2 was next and then Windows Vista.

Presently, I proudly serve as a moderator at the Calendar of Updates Help Desk forums, and as an Administrator at the Windows Connected forums.
I also frequent the Dell Community forums, particularly the Vista sub forum. The new Canadian FutureShop forums are a good place to get assistance too. I post under 'Xrayjames' there.
I have been a Microsoft MVP in the Windows Desktop Experience category since October 2003 and I live in Atlantic Canada with my wife & our dachshund, Ginger.
