64 Bit vs.32 Bit Systems: What Does it Mean?

I’m seeing more and more 64 bit systems being offered in advertisements these days. That, and the fact that 32 bit versions of Windows can only address (‘use’) 4 GB of RAM memory, makes one wonder if moving to a 64 bit version of Windows (which, among other things, can use more than 4GB RAM) is something to consider before buying their next computer.
