So many browsers, so little time… As it turns out, the majority of computer users automatically use some version of Internet Explorer by Microsoft. Most Internet Explorer users are happy with the browser’s performance and don’t give it a second thought. But what many people don’t realize is that there are several other competitive browsers available that may offer better features tailored to meet your needs.
Let’s start with the most familiar…
Internet Explorer 9
Internet Explorer 9 is the latest browser version available, and it offers the ability to pin favorite websites in the taskbar. This will provide quick shortcuts to the websites that you use the most on a day-to-day basis. The browser now has a redesigned Notification Bar that will allow you to browse the Internet and process notifications when it is most convenient for you. Internet Explorer also now (finally) has a download manager and the One Box feature for singular search and navigation.
Firefox
Firefox is holding second place in the market next to Internet Explorer. It can be used with Windows, Linux, and OS X and provides a wide variety of features. These features include spell-checking, a download manager, private browsing, and tabbed browsing. You can also explore through literally thousands of Add On features that can be downloaded and installed directly to improve your browsing experience.
Safari
Safari is the browser by Apple used by Mac users, and there is also a version available for Windows. Safari is aesthetically pleasing, to say the least. It offers searchable history, full page zoom, and fast performance, similar to Google Chrome. If you’re an RSS user, Safari provides an RSS reader, RSS bookmarking, and RSS aggregation.
Chrome
Chrome by Google made a splash in December 2008. It offers the simplicity that has been trademarked by Google with improved speed, stability, and security. Chrome is minimalistic, which sets it apart from many competing web browsers today. However, Chrome is much faster than other browsers and offers convenient tabbed browsing. Security is another attraction for Chrome users; Chrome relies on the Google sandboxing technology to protect a computer from viruses, spyware, and other malicious programs from fraudulent websites.
Opera 11
Many computer users may not be familiar with the Opera 11 browser, but it is ideal for those with older, slower computers. It uses significantly less memory than other browsers and can load quickly, even if you have a slow connection. Unfortunately, it isn’t compatible with quite a few popular websites and also won’t support instant streaming on Netflix.

Internet Explorer 9 is not bad but i avoid using it only due to security issues. I prefer mozilla generally, chrome is indeed a solid browser with all the extensions but is a memory hogger..

Well, if you say “Yes”, then it will make it the default browser, but you’ll get the same problem with Chrome asking you the same question. So you can’t really get rid of this. I think there might be a checkbox in the question window which says something like, “Don’t ask me this again,” or “Don’t show this question again” but I’m not sure.

Using IE is a huge mistake, to realize that you need to take a look at it’s previous versions like IE 6,7 which have been around for a while so their security issue had a chance to be reviled.
My personal preference is Firefox because Chrome is a spies on you for Google.
If you will be asking me, I would probably be choosing Chrome because of its fast and easy access. As a matter of fact, this really provides me with great benefits most especially when it comes to my daily work and activity.

I’ve always used Google Chrome and since I started using it in 2008, it has always been my default browser no matter which computer/laptop I use. It’s tab browsing feature is way faster and has tighter security compared to other browsers that I’ve used.
I used all of these browsers and chrome is the best.Firefox often crashes, opera and safari are slow to open.

There are Lot of Browsers around There and it is quite difficult task to choose most appropriate one! But For Me Mozilla Firefox is the best, there are tons of firefox addons available out there which facilitates users to perform the task according to their choices!

It’s always been a split between Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. They are quite similar and both very good modern browsers. You will have a good experience with either of them. I use both, but personally think Firefox is slightly better. I like the User Interface of Firefox more, and it is really easy to manage your add-ons and extensions with Firefox.

I started using Chrome recently and its the best browser I’ve used to date. Its simplicity works well for me. Also the amount of extensions you can add to your browser is unreal.
Great Post! I use IE9, and love it! I, too, never heard of Opera.
I love using Google Chrome. I like the extensions and I find it faster in loading. I also like the downloading features.

I’m still attached to Firefox. It has the best plugins and is fast enough for me. If there’s one thing I dislike about Firefox, it’s the fact that it can be quite a resource hog at times.
I always use FireFox and Chrome in browsing. I use Firefox whenever I work since it has a lot of add ons ready for use. I use Chrome whenever I watch some missed TV eps or movies because it’s just so fast.

As for me, then I prefer using Chrome. I have never had any problems with it. I’m quite satisfies with its speed and general opportunities. But I had many problems with Explorer and Opera, and I don’t want to advise anyone to use it

Personally, I used to use Firefox exclusively. But recently, Chrome has made some serious leaps and bounds and has become my go-to web browser. It tends to run fast and be fairly secure.
Hey Bethany,
I like Internet Explorer but I really love Firefox. Firefox is my choice because of all the different plugins available for it. However, my computer has been attacked by a number of viruses recently so I’m thinking about giving Google Chrome a try in hopes of protecting my computer better from viruses. Thanks for the great list of different browsers.

I am now using FireFox, but may consider switch over to Google Chrome. This is because FireFox very often to hanf lately. When I find a right add-ons mean is also the right time for me to switch over. I think Google Chrome also support add-ons, correct me if I am wrong.

Chrome is a great browser it just speeds up your browsing experience and also they are starting to add some plugins and add-ons lately. So chrome is getting better because it’s dynamic now. But you may experience some random memory problems because it eats and consumes the memory in your computer.
Firefox is also a great browser. So many different plug ins and add-ons to choose from. And it’s so stable that I even tend to ignore Internet Explorer and some other browsers. Firefox was a great alternative browser when the versions of IE were really on huge downfall of errors.
I normally use IE but with some applications – Like Amazon Carousel I need FireFox to work -Just saying…

Still using Firefox cause there are a number of add-ons that I use all the time that aren’t available with Chrome, to my knowledge. If chrome had the same add-ons I would probably switch for the better performance.

I primarily use Chrome. It’s lightweight plus I like the Cognito feature
Then my secondary is Safari. I don’t use Firefox because of its memory hog problem especially if you open a lot of tabs.
