With the advent of the internet, and the ever increasing number of websites out, it seems that everyday you need a new password for each new site. At the beginning this may not have been a problem as there were few sites and so you didn’t really need a lot of passwords.
Now that we find ourselves managing our lives more and more on the internet, we find that there is a need for help with the quantity of passwords that we need to remember.
To this, some companies have developed online online password managers, with the likes of Roboform being a commercial one, but there are many other form fillers out there that are free also including those from web browsers from Firefox Password Manager.
Most of the free password managers or online form fillers however you choose to call them are okay but they to have some flaws and can be easily attacked.
Roboform is commercial password manager and it has been around for quite some time. It has won various awards from PC magazines over a the years. It is designed for
Roboform is quite comprehensive, with Roboform all you need to do is just create one really strong password for yourself, which you need to remember at all times! This goes without say for all password managers. If you forget your master password, then all passwords will have to be reset as nobody has access to your password. The only drawback with Roboform is that it is localized on one machine. So if you’re not using the machine with Roboform installed on, then you’ll have to remember all your passwords, which isn’t too helpful if you have created really strong passwords with multiple symbols, with character length exceeding 15.
As I write they are trying to come up to speed so that the application can be used anywhere there is access to the internet.
A new password manager that has come to fill the shortcomings of Roboform is LastPass. This new application can do everything that Roboform can and some! It is light and very versatile. Again like Roboform, all you need is one really strong password that you need to remember at all times to manage all your other passwords. One created this is kept on a secure server with the only person that has access to the passwords is you. Nobody else can see your password.
The difference with this online password manager is that it is free, it is supported by very small adverts that are not in your face all the time. If you want to upgrade, the price is really great as well as it’s only $12 for a years license.
