Are you ready for IE9?

email

Can you believe it has been over a year since Internet Explorer 8 was released (March 19, 2009)? It preceded the release of Windows 7 by a few months; IE8 being the default browser that shipped with Windows 7.

Now, there was a new technical preview of IE9 may released today (June 23rd). You can visit the IE9 Test Drive site for more information on the development of this newest version of IE. The IE Blog is here, if you are curious about some of the new features they are working on.

What is a ‘technical preview’? Basically, it is a pre-beta release strictly for developers, mainly to get a closer look at new features. It would not be usable by the general public. It would be better to await an official beta release, if you must give it a try. Personally, unless you have a test PC that you can play with, avoid installing beta programs on your home PC.

Beta releases have known (and unknown) bugs and are often not stable, meaning they could cause your PC to crash, or lock up.

The first public beta is slated to be released in August 2010, with no firm final release date, but I wouldn’t expect it before 2011.

In the meantime, you may want to try another browser like Google’s Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

My favorite browser is Firefox they have worked great for me. I hate Internet Explorer. I can’t stand it so I really don’t care about the new IE9 release.

      Hi Miguel,
I am glad that you like Firefox; it certainly is an excellent browser, especially with some of the add-ins for it, making it very useful.
