Saving Your Memories

Hidden away in storage or lost on a shelf, your memories are fading away. All those countless memories that you captured on your home video camera will be gone forever.

Let me explain. Long away, videotapes had been the standard for recording your memories. After all, in times where iPods and Google didn’t exist, videotapes were an innovation. In times when video only came from Hollywood movie theaters, videotapes made it easy and affordable for the masses to record their memories on video.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have any. Because of the way videotapes are created, time ultimately consumes them. With magnetic recording, videotapes cannot stand against the wears and tears even of shortage life.

And just as technological advances made videotapes possible, they also made them obsolete. With more and more technologies being improved and expanded, videotape was left in the dust. DVD eventually surpassed videotapes in sales and popularity. Rarely in stores today can you even find a videotape player or videotape camera, with more and more people adopting the benefits and features of digital video.

What can you do then? The answer to that question is to move your memories to a digital format such as DVD. Along with features such as DVD menus and scene selection, DVD outlasts VHS by generations. With storage, DVD can store your memories for over one hundred years where as with VHS your memories will be gone with ten to fifteen years.

Also an important point with DVD is that it is widely available. Go into any electronics store and you’ll find tens of DVD players, cameras, and recorders available. Or just put your DVD into any computer with a DVD drive (a basic feature in any new computer) and you can watch your memories on the computer as well as the television.
